Nettles are a wonderful, abundant plant, great as food and medicine, an important source of nectar for bees and the protein from the seeds is ideal for birds. But have you ever considered those long stems for fibres?
Nettle fibres (Urtica dioica) were traditionally used for clothing, string and rope. Discover how to use this amazing plant. 
Who is this event for? Anyone interested in plants, crafts and using natural and ‘waste’ materials (garden cuttings and weeds) and learning an ancient technique for practical and decorative projects. Suitable for beginners and those with previous craft experience.*

- Discover and practice the technique of cordage making from plants
- See different examples of how cordage can be used (bags, bowls, pots, jewellery, ties)
- Go away with plant fibres to use on your own projects
*Bring your own nettle stems if you like! Just remember to pick after the flowers and leave the seeds for the birds.
